Understanding Private Pay, Out-of-Network Benefits, and What You’re Really Investing In
Private Pay Therapy in Colorado, Hawaii, or Near You
Finding the right therapist is a deeply personal decision. And when you discover someone who feels like the right fit—but they don’t accept your insurance—you might hesitate. You’re not alone in that pause. It’s a common concern, especially in Hawai‘i where insurance coverage often shapes how people access care.
So why do some experienced therapists, including myself, choose not to work directly with insurance companies? And what does that mean for you—especially if you're seeking high-quality, meaningful support for yourself or your relationship?
Let’s talk about it.

Therapy Without Insurance = More Privacy, More Freedom
When you use insurance, your care must meet certain conditions—like receiving a mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent medical record. Treatment length and type are often dictated by what your plan will cover, not what you and your therapist know is best.
As a private-pay therapist, I’m able to offer care that’s tailored entirely to you. There are no diagnosis requirements, no session limits, and no outside interference in your goals or progress.
You and I decide - together - what your healing journey looks like.
Care That’s Grounded in Trust, Not Red Tape
With nearly 20 years of experience, I’ve learned that the most powerful therapy happens in a space where clients feel safe, seen, and respected - not rushed, labeled, or forced into a system that doesn't serve them.
Whether you’re:
An individual facing stress, burnout, or identity questions,
A couple navigating disconnection, illness, or parenting stress,
Or someone seeking culturally responsive care as a Jewish client or member of a marginalized community...
You deserve thoughtful, grounded support that honors the full context of your life..
What About Cost? Here’s What You Should Know
I understand that therapy is an investment. For clients with out-of-network benefits, I provide monthly superbills that can be submitted for reimbursement—meaning your insurance may still cover a portion of your care.
Many of my Colorado clients already choose to pay privately to prioritize choice and confidentiality. And I invite my clients in Hawai‘i to consider this option too—with full transparency and support in navigating reimbursement.
In addition, I offer a limited number of scholarship spaces to ensure access to high-quality care is available for those who need financial support.
Therapy Designed Around You
At Live & Love Well™, I provide therapy that reflects your unique needs—not a system’s restrictions. My approach is integrative, evidence-based, and deeply personal. Whether we’re working together in person in Hawaii or Denver, or online across one of 35+ PsyPACT states, the care you receive is intentional and attuned.
If you’ve found your way here, something is calling for change, healing, or connection. And that deserves to be met with clarity, flexibility, and respect.
